Chief of Police

The Town of Easton, Maryland is currently seeking a Chief of Police to efficiently and effectively manage, motivate and lead our police department, a force of 48 sworn officers and support  personnel, in the enforcement of all laws within its legal jurisdiction.  

The Chief of Police is the chief administrative officer of the Department and involved in all matters  of policy, operations, and discipline. He or she will exercise all lawful powers of the office and  issues such lawful orders as are necessary to assure the effective performance of the Department. 

The successful candidate will have a comprehensive knowledge of laws, rules and court decisions  relating to the administration of criminal justice and law enforcement; comprehensive  knowledge of scientific methods of crime detection, criminal identification and radio  communication; comprehensive knowledge of controlling laws and ordinances; thorough  knowledge of the geography of the town; demonstrated ability to lead and direct the activities  of police officers; ability to maintain cooperative relationships with other town officials and with  the general public and neighboring departments; ability to evaluate the effectiveness of the  police operation and to institute improvements; ability to prepare and review reports; budget  management proficiency, resourcefulness and sound judgment in emergencies; demonstrated  integrity; tact. 

A Bachelor’s Degree in law enforcement, criminology, public administration or a related field or  a graduate of an extensive administrative training program such as the FBI National Academy, is  highly preferred. Must have a minimum of fifteen years’ experience in law enforcement with a  demonstrated ability to lead, manage, organize and supervise subordinates, ability to recruit  and retain a diverse work force and any other requirements set by the Mayor and Council of  Easton.

Buildings and Facilities Service Technician

The Town of Easton is recruiting for a Buildings and Facilities Service Technician that will perform overall maintenance functions for the Town of Easton’s municipal facilities.  The position will report to the Director of Buildings and Facilities.

The job requirements include a high school diploma or the equivalent and a minimum of two years of general trades and maintenance services, preferably in a facility setting.  HVAC diagnosis and repair talent are desired.  Additional education or trades certification is desirable and may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement.   Basic rough and finished carpentry. Framing and finishing experience is a plus.  Roofing, siding and gutter repairs and replacement.  Basic plumbing repairs of leaks or breaks, flushing mechanisms, valves, pumps and the clearing of clogged lines and drains.  Work outside four seasons and during various weather conditions.  Must be physically able to inspect buildings and facility sites including walking properties with above grade requiring balance, climbing ladders, crawling under structures, able to step up and step down on uneven surfaces.

Senior Human Resource Analyst

The Town of Easton is seeking an ideal candidate to fill the position of Senior Human Resource Analyst

Candidate must have the ability to perform complex professional and administrative work, direct and coordinate human resource; management, policies, procedures, best practices, and identifying and implementing long‐range strategies.

Candidate must possess in‐depth experience from the disciplines of leadership and guidance to meet the organization’s human resource operations and to champion key initiatives and programs that positively impact all Town personnel, department heads and divisions.

Position requires either a graduate or undergraduate degree, preferably in Human Resource Management, SHRM‐CP or HRCI‐PHR certification, HIPAA certification. A valid driver’s license is required and is to be maintained while employed. Ten or more years in public or private sector human resource management with five or more years of supervisory experience.
